Getting Indexed I am an amateur in web designer. I designed a webpage and now that's its done, my only wish now is to get indexed by some major search engines( yahoo, google, msn). Getting indexed by these seach engines is on a completely different level than that of designing a web page. One needs a lot of patience, ruse and some simple backlinks to get indexed. Ways of getting indexed
There are two main ways to get indexed(as far as I know): The first one is to submit your url to those search engines and wait for them to index your page. This may take from weeks to months before getting indexed and in the worst cases, the webpage is not indexed at all. The other way is a lot quicker. You get a link from a page(already indexed by the search engine) that points to your page and wait for a spider to follow the link to your page. A spider is a program created by seach engine which navigates through the web and crawls(indexes) webpages whenever it finds any interesting things on your page. Getting a backlink, this is the reason why I am here typing all this just to get a backlink, cause till now I did not find anyone to put my link on their webpage. Getting Ranked Even if you are indexed by a search engine is not enough if your link does not appear on the first result page. Here there’s still some work to do. To do this the page should be search engine friendly. One way to do it is to insert some Meta tags giving a description of your page, keywords. The keywords are words which the search engine will use to retrieve your page whenever a search is done. To get on the first page of the search result, specific and intelligently selected words which describe best your page should be inserted in the meta tags. One other way is to avoid frames which may block spiders, preventing your site from being listed.
